Adopt-A-Shelter
Are you looking for a worthwhile
community project? Join IndyGo and adopt a bus shelter. Each adopter
agrees to monitor the shelter and work with IndyGo staff to implement
improvements such as planting flowers or removing excessive litter.
Additionally, IndyGo will place the adopter’s name on the front of
the shelter to acknowledge their contribution. There are close to 200
shelters available for adoption.

New Shelter Request
Would you like to adopt a shelter but there are none located by you?
You may submit recommendations to IndyGo for a new shelter site. All
potential shelter locations must meet the criteria listed below. Keep
in mind that shelter installation is a lengthy process. To request a
shelter, please contact Annette Darrow at 614-9315 or by email at adarrow@indygo.net.
- A shelter location request needs to be made.
- Location must be along an existing route.
- Must not be in front of a single family dwelling.
- There must be existing sidewalks and cubs on all sides of street and intersection.
- Must be adequate right of way and meet ADA standards.
- Verify site is needed by looking at ridership.
- Engineer draws up site plan.
- Right of way license must be submitted to city.
- If city approves, shelter can be installed.
