Brickyard 400 to Impact West Side IndyGo Bus Service
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 22, 2010) — The Brickyard 400 Race, taking place Sunday, July 25 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, brings road closures that will detour and/or delay IndyGo’s west side bus routes 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 37 and 38. Additionally, IndyGo will not operate a park and ride service to the event due to Federal Transit Administration regulations.

Specific Detour Information:

Route 3 – Michigan Street

Based on Michigan Street accessibility west of White River Parkway, there are two different detour scenarios.

Scenario 1: If Michigan Street is open west of White River Parkway, bus service will not be available between Michigan Plaza and Mickley Avenue/Rockville Road. Passengers are advised to use Michigan Street and Tibbs Avenue.

Scenario 2: If drivers cannot cross White River Parkway, bus service will not be available between Michigan Street/White River Parkway and Mickley Avenue/Rockville Road. Passengers are advised to use Michigan Street and White River Parkway.

Route 5 – N. Harding

No detours are slated before the race.

After the race, bus service will not be available north of 25th Street. Passengers are advised to use 25th Street, Rader Street and Burdsal Parkway.

Route 8 – Washington Street

No street closures are scheduled, but delays are possible.

Route 10 – 10th Street

Before and after the race, bus service will not be available on Route 10 to Glen Arm Road and Westhaven Drive west of Wishard Hospital.

Route 15 – Riverside

Before the race, bus service will not be available west of 30th Street and Riverside Parkway. Passengers are advised to use 29th Street.

After the race, bus service will not be available west of 27th Street and Clifton Street. Passengers are advised to use Roache and Rader Streets.

Route 37 – Park 100

Before and after the race, bus service will not be available on Michigan or White River Parkway.

Before and after the race, bus service will not be available on Lafayette Road between 16th and 38th Streets.

Before and after the race, bus service will not be available on New York between White River Parkway and West Street. Service will be shifted to Martin Luther King and 38th Street.

Route 38 – Lafayette Square

No street closures are scheduled, but delays are possible. In the event Georgetown is closed, bus service will not be available west of Lafayette Square Mall.

Special Note:

The Route 25 bus offers service to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Monday through Saturday, making the Brickyard’s Chevy Day on Friday, July 23 and Qualifications Day on Saturday, July 24 easily accessible.
