Apply for Visitor Status

Indianapolis visitors that need paratransit transportation because of a disability are eligible to use Open Door for 21 days in a rolling 365 day period. To apply for visitor status, a person will need their current paratransit provider to mail or fax IndyGo the following information:

  • Applicant’s full name
  • Applicant’s full address and phone number
  • Applicant’s paratransit ID number and expiration date
  • Type of disability
  • Personal Care Assistant (PCA) qualified
  • If applicant uses a service animal

If the visitor does not have paratransit in their home area or an apparent disability, they will need their healthcare provider to mail or fax IndyGo a certification of disability with the following information:

  • Applicant’s full name
  • Applicant’s full address and phone number
  • Type of disability
  • If applicant uses a service animal

Visitors must submit the required documentation at least 3 days before their visit to provide adequate time for processing. Once the request is processed, a temporary pass will be mailed to the address specified for use on Open Door and local routes. Please factor the mailing time in when submitting your documentation.
