The majority of Indianapolis’ bus users ride IndyGo’s Fixed Route. If it’s been a while or if you’ve never ridden the bus, the following offers
some tips and guidance to start! If you have questions in advance, please call 317.635.3344 or log onto www.IndyGo.net. If you
have questions while riding an IndyGo bus, please ask your operator.
Plan your trip in advance.“ You will need to look at the
System Map to determine
the best route number(s) to take to your desired destination. From there, consult the
Individual Route Map(s) for schedules and major route stops.
Once you know what route is most convenient, pick a bus stop. IndyGo Bus Stops either
have shelters or bus stop signs. Make sure you are on the correct side of the street if you are traveling
inbound, outbound or crosstown.
Look for your bus. Be sure to arrive at your stop 5-10 minutes before the scheduled arrival time. There are several routes
where one or more IndyGo buses may overlap. While waiting for your bus, make sure you look for the correct bus number. There
is a display panel at the top of the bus (front and side) that lists the bus number and a final destination.
Boarding the bus. If you did not purchase a fare pass in advance, exact fare is
required. Single Ride fare is $1.50. If you want to purchase
an All Day Pass, then bring $3.50. If you are using cash, deposit it into the fare box. If you
have a pass, insert it into the pass reader. The side seats in the front of the bus are reserved for customers with
disabilities. You may use these seats, but please relocate if those seats are needed.
Getting off of the bus. There are pull cords above the windows throughout the length of the bus. When your stop is
approaching, please signal the driver with the cord. It’s recommended you signal at least one half block before your desired
stop. Exit from the rear door unless you need the bus to kneel, then exit from the front door.

Bike ‘n Ride Hints
All IndyGo Fixed Route buses are equipped with bike racks. Each bus can carry two bikes at a time. If you
have questions, please ask your operator.
Loading Your Bike:
Tell the bus driver you’re loading your bike. Load from the curbside only. Do not step beyond the driver’s side of the bus
into the traffic lane to load your bike.
Pull down to release folded bike rack.
Lift your bike onto the rack, fitting wheels into the slots. Each slot is labeled for front and rear wheels. Your bike must fit
securely in the rack in order to be transported.
Raise and release the support arm over the top of the front tire. Make sure the support arm is resting on the tire and not on the
fender of the bike.
Unloading Your Bike:
Tell the driver you need to unload your bike when you approach your stop.
Raise the support arm off the tire. Move the support arm down, out of your way.
Lift your bike out of the rack.
Fold up the bike rack if there is no other bike in the rack.
Return to the curb with your bike and wait for the bus to leave before entering traffic.
