Greg Bedan has 17 years of experience in government affairs. He is a consultant for The Third House Advocacy Group, a full service governmental affairs firm in Indiana. Prior to this position, Greg worked with the Indiana Department of Commerce, and the Indiana Tourism Office. Mr. Bedan has experience in integrated marketing and communications including sales promotion, public relations, database, direct and coop marketing.
Prior to this role, Bedan had a successful 15-year economic development career with the Indiana Department of Commerce, holding several key positions within the organization that included Director of General Services, International Marketing and Motorcoach/Group Tour Manager and Director of Development. During his tenure with the Indiana Department of Commerce, his essential duties were to promote the state of Indiana to the domestic motorcoach industry which had a $240 million dollar economic impact on Indiana's tourism industry.
During his tenure with the Department of Commerce, he accomplished a number of great things for the state. He successfully promoted Indiana to new international markets and was instrumental in establishing partnerships with neighboring states. He also managed the Quality of Place Initiative Grant Program, allocating over $550,000 to 11 tourism organizations. And last but not least, under Bedan's leadership, Indiana created an Agri-Tourism Initiative involving the Office of Agriculture, Purdue University and the Indiana agricultural community. The success of the program spurred new legislation with House Enrolled Act 1244 in May 2004, and earned Bedan special recognition from Lt. Governor Kathy Davis and the Indiana Horticultural Congress.
Greg has also worked as the Development Director for the Indiana Tourism Office where he oversaw the Quality of Place Initiative (QPI) Grant Program, which allocated over $550,000 to 11 Indiana communities and tourism organizations. He was also one of the original board members of the Indiana Historic National Road Corridor and the Ohio River Scenic Byway, which required the oversight of TEA 21 grants for both byways.
In addition to his IndyGo board appointment, Bedan also serves on the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Sports Board of Directors, the Marion County Local Advisory Council on Polling Place Accessibility, the Governor’s Planning Council for Persons with Disabilities, the American Bus Association’s Diversity Committee, the Old National Road Board and the Ohio River Scenic Byway Board.
Bedan is a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and history, with a minor in marketing and post graduate studies in foreign policy.
