Tommie Jones, owner of Jones Property LLC., is a long-standing member of the IndyGo Board of Directors. She also serves as chairwoman for the organization's service committee.
Before retiring in 2007—after 36 years of service—Jones was a well respected educator within the Indianapolis and Decatur Township school systems. In fact, she was the recipient of numerous accolades, including the 1997 Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township School Board Proclamation, the 1998 Stephen Decatur Elementary School Teacher of the Year Award, the 1998 Unity Award sponsored by the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township Human Relations Advisory Committee, the 2000 and 2005 Academic Recognition Award and the 2005-2006 Who's Who in American Education.
In addition to her academic career, Jones carries a strong sense of civic pride by volunteering at the Indianapolis Children's Museum and being a member of Good Standing at the Eastside Baptist Church. She also served on the Indianapolis City Council, a position held by her late husband Paul Jones Jr.
An Indiana University-Purdue University graduate, Jones holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
