INDIANAPOLIS – After a successful pilot in fall 2018, Food in Transit returns on June 7, providing fresh and affordable produce to current and future transit riders.
The farm stand and locally-grown produce is provided by Growing Places Indy and is made possible by the Department of Metropolitan Development’s Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Food in Transit is available every Friday between June 7 and the end of October, from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center.
Food items vary each week depending on availability and veggie bunches range in price between $1 to $3. Cash, EBT, credit and debit are all accepted forms of payment, and Growing Places Indy team members will be at each farm stand to answer questions about the produce and help with recipe suggestions.
