INDIANAPOLIS – IndyGo is seeking engaged and committed volunteers to participate in a Transit Ambassador Program.

The Transit Ambassador Program was first created to help inform riders of service changes associated with the June 2016 opening of the Julia M. Carson Transit Center. Volunteers engaged riders face-to-face to give updates on route changes and help riders feel comfortable with the new Transit Center.

Due to the program’s initial success, and outreach needs surrounding the Red Line project and implementation of the Transit Plan’s 70% increase in service, IndyGo is re-launching the Transit Ambassador Program.

Transit Ambassadors are trained volunteers who are knowledgeable about transit in Indianapolis – current routes, route changes, and impacts of the implementation of the Transit Plan.

IndyGo invites interested applicants to apply online. Eligible volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to commit to a minimum 2 volunteer shifts for a 6-month term. Transit Ambassador training will take place in early October with the first volunteer shifts scheduled later in the month.
