How It Works for Students

Accessing Transit

Students receive a semester or summer pass from their school administrator, which can be used either via our MyKey+ mobile app or a personalized MyKey+ card. This program provides students with access to IndyGo for the length of the pass that is assigned by their school. Pass availability and assignment (semester and/or summer) are determined by the school.

Using the Pass

Students create their EZFare account and link their MyKey+ app or MyKey+ card to their account to receive their pass. Students then scan their app or tap their card to validate their pass each time they ride the bus. This confirms that the pass is active and ensures that IndyGo can capture ridership data.

Student Responsibility

Students are expected to use their transit access appropriately and follow IndyGo’s Rider Code of Conduct.

How It Works for Schools

Program Management

Each participating school designates an administrator to manage the program through the IndyGo Partner Portal. This platform allows schools to assign and remove passes, manage student enrollment/unenrollment, and monitor usage.

Assigning Passes

Administrators assign transit passes to eligible students based on school-defined transportation policies. Passes are linked to individual student accounts and provide transit access at no cost to the student.

Managing Participation

School administrators can update student enrollment by adding or removing students from the program, as needed. This allows for flexibility as enrollment or student needs change.

Pass Replacement & Changes

If a student’s physical fare-card is lost, stolen or no longer needed, administrators can deactivate the pass and IndyGo can issue a replacement pass, if needed.

Printable Tickets for Short-Term Transit Access

In addition to semester passes, school administrators will have the ability to print two-hour tickets in the form of QR codes that a student can use for short term transit access directly from their computer. This provides a way for school administrators to provide emergency or one-time transit access for any student, regardless of whether they are enrolled in the program.

Paying Invoices

Schools will receive regular invoices with charges for the number of student passes activated or printed, and will be charged monthly for any printed tickets. Prior to enrolling in the program, school admin will have the chance to schedule a meeting with an IndyGo program manager and learn about the various benefits of the School Partner Program before agreeing to Terms & Conditions.
