INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo will celebrate National Transit Career Day Nov. 12 by connecting community members with rewarding career opportunities in public transportation through hiring and workforce engagement events across Indianapolis.
As part of this year’s observance, IndyGo will host its monthly hiring event to recruit individuals interested in becoming bus operators. IndyGo team members will also participate in a workforce engagement event at Goodwill’s Excel Center in the Avondale Meadows area, where they will share information with students about careers in transit and pathways to employment.
“Public transit is powered by dedicated professionals who serve our community every day,” said Manager of Workforce Development Beth Bowling. “National Transit Career Day provides an opportunity to showcase the wide range of careers available at IndyGo and connect people with meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of our riders.”
IndyGo’s monthly bus operator hiring event will take place Nov. 12 at IndyGo’s East Campus, Building B, at 9503 E. 33rd St. Interested individuals should submit an application. Applicants selected to attend will receive an RSVP to the hiring event. Here, prospective candidates will have an opportunity to learn more about the role, interview with hiring representatives and understand the training process.
Also on Nov. 12, IndyGo representatives will visit the Avondale Meadows Goodwill Excel Center to engage with students interested in career opportunities.
The visit will include:
- An informational presentation for a senior seminar class highlighting IndyGo as an employer.
- An overview of career pathways available within the transit industry.
- A tabling session during lunch to connect with students and answer questions about employment opportunities at IndyGo.
Through competitive benefits, paid training, professional development and career advancement pathways, IndyGo continues to invest in building a strong workforce that supports the future of public transportation in Central Indiana.
