INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo President and CEO Jennifer Pyrz was presented with the Woman of the Year Award by the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Indianapolis Chapter during its 7th Annual Gala Nov. 6.
This award recognizes leaders in the transportation industry who represent the best and brightest in transportation innovation, effectiveness and leadership, and who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry.
“I’m grateful for this incredible honor. I’m proud to be part of a community that’s driving progress and advancing equity in transportation,” said Pyrz. “This recognition reflects the collective dedication of so many who believe in the power of what we do to connect people, strengthen communities and shape a better future together.”
With more than 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, Pyrz leads an agency of more than 850 teammates with a fleet of more than 300 vehicles. Under her leadership, she has successfully executed more than $250 million in federal grants, including a $150 million Capital Investment Grant to construct IndyGo’s third and final Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route, the Blue Line.
Appointed IndyGo president and CEO in May 2024 after serving six months as interim, Pyrz’ deep connection to IndyGo spans multiple roles and perspectives. Before her appointment to IndyGo’s top leadership position, Pyrz was IndyGo’s chief development officer. In that position, she and her team took charge of developing IndyGo’s Purple and Blue lines and led expansion plans for IndyGo’s new East Campus headquarters, which consists of the current administrative building and a future fleet terminal and maintenance facility.
Outside of IndyGo, Pyrz’ active leadership roles extend to service on the Advisory Board for WTS of Greater Indianapolis, the Leadership Council of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the Indianapolis Chamber’s Accelerate Indy Council.
Pyrz’ recognition underscores her commitment to advancing equitable, innovative transportation solutions and her continued leadership in shaping the future of transportation in Indianapolis.
