INDIANAPOLIS — Beginning on or after Monday, March 16, there will be a full closure at the intersection of Washington Street and Ritter Avenue due to Citizens Energy Group relocating utility lines in preparation for Blue Line construction. This work is scheduled to last approximately three weeks and will impact IndyGo’s Route 8.
Motorist Detour
Southbound traffic on Ritter Avenue will detour using Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive, Arlington Avenue and Washington Street. Northbound traffic on Ritter Avenue will detour using Washington Street, Emerson Avenue, New York Street and East Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses along Ritter Avenue.
Rider Detour
Route 8 westbound will detour using Arlington Avenue, Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive, East Michigan Street and Emerson Avenue before turning west onto Washington Street to resume its regular route. Westbound bus stops (Stops 50705, 50706, 50707 and 50709) along Washington Street, between Arlington to Emerson avenues will be closed. Temporary westbound bus stops (Stops 51212, 51343, 51215 and 51216) will be available along Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive.
Route 8 eastbound will detour using Emerson Avenue, East Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive, Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive and Arlington Avenue before turning east onto Washington Street to resume its regular route. Eastbound bus stops (Stops 50635, 50637, 50639, 50640 and 50641) along Washington Street, between Emerson and Arlington avenues will be closed. Temporary eastbound bus stops will be available along Emerson Avenue and Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive (Stops 51136, 51139, 51140, 51342 and 51143).
