IndyGo Travel Training Program
IndyGo’s Travel Training Program offers free, personalized, hands-on transit education for local organizations, universities, and community groups. Through a flexible “train-the-trainer” approach, we help service providers, staff, volunteers, students, and community members feel confident planning trips and using public transit.
Trainings typically last 90 minutes to 3+ hours and can be customized to your group’s needs. Sessions cover how to plan a trip, understand and utilize fare options, and navigate IndyGo’s services. Participants also receive a guided tour of the Julia M. Carson Transit Center and take a supported bus ride, sometimes including a quick stop for coffee or lunch, to demonstrate how easy it is to use transit in day-to-day life!
Each training includes time for open Q&A with an IndyGo staff member who rides the system regularly. We also discuss topics such as rider etiquette, what it means to feel unsafe versus simply uncomfortable, and practical strategies for building confidence on transit. An IndyGo staff member rides along throughout the session to offer support and ensure that first-time experiences feel welcoming and accessible.
Organizations interested in requesting a Travel Training can fill out the request form on the IndyGo website to learn more or schedule a session. For further questions, please reach out to Mobility Manager, Molly Freeman at molly.freeman@indygo.net
