IndyGo Announces Detours Due to March Madness and Final Four Events

INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo will implement temporary detours on several routes due to upcoming 2026 NCAA Tournament events, including March Madness and the Final Four, in downtown Indianapolis.

The March Madness Music Festival, a three-day concert scheduled for Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5, will require the closure of part of Meridian Street from Michigan to Vermont streets. As a result, Routes 11 and 25 will be detoured in those sections during this time. Stops along Meridian Street will be closed from North Street to 9th Street.

Although Vermont Street will remain open, IndyGo will detour inbound routes that service the Vermont Street Super Stop to avoid anticipated traffic congestion. Inbound buses will pick up and drop off at the corner of Capitol Avenue and Vermont Street. Outbound buses will travel via Illinois Street and return to Vermont Street to resume regular routing and service the Super Stop.

The Men’s Final Four Dribble, planned for Sunday, April 5, will require the closure of Washington Street near West Street from noon to 3 p.m. As a result, Route 8 will be detoured through that area.

Other events taking place throughout the week and weekend are not expected to impact IndyGo service.

Riding on IndyGo requires only three simple steps during March Madness and Final Four downtown events: Plan your trip, pay and ride the bus!

To plan your trip, you can choose one of the three options:

  • Google Maps (choose transit option).
  • IndyGo’s Trip Planner here.
  • Call IndyGo’s Customer Care Center – 317-635-3344.

Once you determine your route, go to your designated stop, board the IndyGo bus, pay your $2.75 fare (the cheapest ride in town!), and enjoy the ride without the stress of heavy traffic, parking downtown or long walking distances!
