Due to the heavy snow blanketing Indianapolis, IndyGo is now experiencing major service impacts. Riders will see service gaps and interruptions. Buses on some routes are currently delayed by several hours. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must ride IndyGo, plan ahead and expect long wait times.

Riders planning trips, should use the myStop app. It is currently the best resource for real-time tracking of IndyGo buses. The myStop app allows riders to select their route and see what buses are out and where to plan accordingly and avoid long wait times in the extreme cold.

IndyGo could see significant service impacts this weekend as a severe winter storm moves across Marion County Saturday evening, Jan. 24, through Monday, Jan. 26.  The forecast calls for heavy snow and dangerous wind chills. IndyGo encourages riders to plan ahead during winter weather.

To maintain service during this extreme cold, IndyGo may operate different bus types on the Red and Purple lines. If this occurs, some buses may board at the curb instead of the station platform. IndyGo supervisors and bus operators will provide direction and assist customers with safe boarding and exiting procedures.

Passengers are encouraged to take the following precautions if they must travel during this time:

  • Dress in warm layers, including thick socks, hats, gloves and scarves. Wear highly visible clothing so you can be spotted at a bus stop.
  • Contact IndyGo’s Customer Care Center at 317-635-3344 for real-time bus arrivals and information on detours. Expect longer wait times on the phone due to heavy call volumes that come with severe weather. Click here for Care Center hours.
  • Detours and route delays can also be found on the IndyGo Rider Alerts Twitter page here. Real-time alerts are also available when you text ##### (Five digit stop ID) to 463-208-4344.
  • Allow for extra travel time to and from your destination. Plan for significant delays due to hazardous road conditions.
  • Be extra careful and watch your step. Snow can make sidewalks, steps and bus floors slippery. Hold onto the railing when boarding and exiting the bus.
  • Buses may experience travel difficulties getting to residential areas and side streets. If you’re traveling from these places, you may need to use a different stop. Riders can plan their trips using Google Maps, the Transit app or by visiting our website
