Stanley Smith Named to the IndyGo Board of Directors 

INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo is pleased to announce the appointment of Stanley Smith to its Board of Directors. Smith currently is the owner of SCS Associates, where he is a business consultant focused primarily on the Indiana transportation and infrastructure marketplace. He will bring extensive experience to the agency in areas such as business development and transit planning. Mayor Joe Hogsett appointed him to the Board. 

Smith previously worked for Infrastructure Engineering Inc., where he was the business development director. In this role he led and directed business development activities focused on the transportation infrastructure environment, developed strategic growth plans for the company and conducted relationship marketing seminars for staff. 

He also worked with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), where he served as the vice president and area manager. While at PB he was on the Mayor’s Task Force on Transit, acted as the principal in charge (PIC) of the Indianapolis Children’s Museum Transit Project, served as the PIC for the Ivy Tech Transit Project and was designated the PIC of IndyGo facility and maintenance oversight. 

Prior to PB, Smith worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation, in both the deputy commissioner and commissioner roles, where he managed 5,000 employees and an annual budget of $600,000,000.

Smith’s commitment to the community has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Parsons Brinckerhoff Diversity Leadership Award, Mayor of Indianapolis Diversity Award, Indianapolis Public Schools Human Rights Award and the Sagamore of the Wabash Award presented by Governor Evan Bayh. 

Governor Bayh also appointed Smith to the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission, where he recruited and interviewed applicants to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals and the Tax Court. 

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Savannah State University and is an active board member for Faith, Hope and Love International. 

He also has served throughout his career on the diversity committee of the Indy Connect Transit Initiative, as the past chair of Indy Chamber’s Transportation Infrastructure and Environment Committee and chaired the Circle City Classic Coronation Scholarship Committee. 

Additionally, he was previously a board member of the Martindale-Brightwood Business Development Association and a business coach for the Small Business Administration/ Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation entrepreneur workshops.
