MyKey+ Glossary

  • Fare Media: The physical way a rider validates fare payment. Types of fare media include the MyKey+ card or the QR codes within the MyKey+ app.
  • Stored Value Account: A Stored Value Account (SVA) is the MyKey+ account created by an IndyGo rider. Any fare media linked to an SVA is considered to be registered to the primary account holder.
  • MyKey+ Card: The MyKey+ card is defined as a reloadable, physical MyKey+ smart card, which is used to pay transit fares. Each MyKey+ card is uniquely identified by a serial number and MyKey+ Reduced Fare cards are personalized with a photo.
  • MyKey+ Mobile App: The MyKey+ mobile app allows riders to create and manage their MyKey+ SVA, which includes adding or removing linked accounts, adding value to the account, purchasing transit tokens and validating fare payment.
  • MyKey+ Web Portal: The MyKey+ web portal allows riders to create and log into their MyKey+ SVA and manage their fare media online.
  • Anonymous Account: An anonymous account is a MyKey+ SVA that has been created by an IndyGo customer service representative on behalf of an IndyGo rider.
  • Linked Members: Individuals can be linked together via the MyKey+ app or MyKey+ web portal to allow the primary account holder to manage the MyKey+ balance of another MyKey+ user (i.e., a family member). The account linking process requires approval by the primary SVA holder.
  • Registered Fare Media: Registered fare media is any fare media associated with an SVA and managed by the primary account holder. Registered fare media is automatically eligible for balance protection.
  • Unregistered Fare Media: Unregistered fare media is any fare media that is not associated with an SVA. Unregistered fare is not eligible for balance protection.
  • Service Provider: Service provider is defined as IndyGo. Please note that MyKey+ confirmation emails will come from Masabi and EZfare.
  • Token(s): Otherwise known as a mobile ticket, a token provides a means of accessing SVA funds for pay as you go. A token can be a mobile QR code or a MyKey+ card.
  • Wallet: A section within your MyKey+ app that displays your balance and transit passes. It enables riders to use their QR code to ride the bus and purchase additional passes.
  • Validator(s): A multi-format electronic ticket validation device on all IndyGo buses. It enables electronic validation of QR codes scanned within the MyKey+ app, on a paper pass or printed on paper, and MyKey+ cards or paper passes once tapped.
  • Fare Inspection Officer: The person(s) authorized by IndyGo to perform Fare Validation inspections on board IndyGo buses and at IndyGo bus stops or stations.
