Mobility Advisory Committee
IndyGo’s Board of Directors established the Mobility Advisory Committee (MAC) to advise IndyGo on the provision of public transportation services for individuals with disabilities and to provide education to the general public about these transportation needs.
The committee is comprised of community volunteers who meet quarterly and operate under a set of sanctioned MAC Bylaws. The group of eleven members comprise a diverse representation of individuals with disabilities throughout the IndyGo service area, who are either:
- A rider with a disability
- A provider of services for people with disabilities
- An employer of people with disabilities
Within the MAC, there are four sub-committees:
The Nominating Sub-Committee recruits a diversity of qualified individuals to serve on the Mobility Advisory Committee.
The Education and Outreach Sub-Committee educates new and existing MAC members to facilitate ongoing knowledge regarding transit systems and policies. It also supports IndyGo via transit-education initiatives in the community.
The Legislative and Finance Sub-Committee identifies opportunities at the local, state and federal levels that could provide funds for developing and maintaining the paratransportation system in the IndyGo service area.
The Community Relations Sub-Committee fosters positive relationships pertaining to mass transit between IndyGo and the Indianapolis community, including businesses, organizations, and riders.
