mass transit meansINDIANAPOLIS – Celebrations on Tuesday, June 21 kick off the opening of the Julia M. Carson Transit Center with a public ribbon cutting and dedication event. The Transit Center, at the corner of Washington St. and Delaware St., across from the City County Building plaza, will be the new central transfer point for all IndyGo routes traveling through downtown Indianapolis. Bus service will begin operating from the facility on Sunday, June 26. System wide service and schedule changes will impact all 31 bus routes when the Transit Center opens.

Amenities at the Transit Center include 19 covered bus bays with Real Time bus arrival information, public restrooms, indoor waiting area, customer service and pass sales on site, and free Wifi internet.

Customer Service Center Opens

The IndyGo Customer Service Center currently located at 34 N. Delaware St. moves to the Transit Center at 201 E. Washington St. Riders can visit the Customer Service Center to purchase passes and pick up route maps. Notices are displayed at the 34 N. Delaware location directing customers to the location.

Opening Week Celebration Events
Sunday, June 26 – Friday, July 1
Through a partnership with the Arts Council of Indianapolis, current and future riders will enjoy performances from local artists to celebrate the opening week of the Transit Center. Performances will take place at the Transit Center as well as various downtown stops.

Week of Free Rides
Sunday, June 26 – Monday, July 4
IndyGo will offer free rides on all routes from Sunday, June 26 through Monday, July 4 to help riders adjust to the Julia M. Transit Center opening and route changes.
