In conjunction with the opening of the Julia M. Carson Transit Center and system-wide route changes on Sunday, June 26, new traffic signals will be installed at the S. Alabama St. and E. Pearl St. as well as the S. Delaware St. and E. Pearl St. intersections. The signals will be turned on and operational starting Friday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. These two new signals are coordinated with the adjacent traffic signals and triggered when the pulse of buses leave the Transit Center. New signal timing plans have been developed and will be implemented as part of the changes.
These new traffic signals will minimize impact to traffic in the area and allow buses to leave the Transit Center concurrently.
There will also be a bus only, northbound lane on S. Alabama St. for buses to use to turn into the Transit Center on Pearl St.
