INDIANAPOLIS – Starting on or after Monday, February 4, construction crews will be closing one block of Virginia Avenue, from Merrill Street to Lexington Avenue, for 6 weeks.

This temporary closure will allow for faster, safer construction of the Red Line stations at this location.

All business access will remain open during this period.

Local traffic will be permitted to use Virginia Avenue between College and Fletcher Avenues to access all homes, apartments, and businesses. However, vehicles will not be able to drive through the area marked “Road Closed” in the map below.

Virginia Avenue through traffic should use College Avenue to Fletcher Avenue as a northbound detour and East Street to McCarty Street as a southbound detour during this closure.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail will remain open, but the eastside sidewalk will be closed between Merrill and Lexington. Pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to use the Cultural Trail for safe access.

IndyGo bus service will be detoured between Fletcher and McCarty.

Drivers are encouraged to heed all signs and flaggers to safeguard workers, drivers and pedestrians along the construction route.

Information about all vehicle and pedestrian traffic changes along with updates for bus riders can be found at www.IndyGoRed.com and by calling 317-635-3344.
