IndyGo ForwardIndyGo Forward is a planning study on how our system operates today and how best to plan for the future of transit in Indianapolis. The opening of the Downtown Transit Center in 2015 is the first item that requires a plan of action. Currently, there are 27 proposed route changes that are being reviewed.

These changes will greatly affect our service in the downtown area and therefore most of our passengers. To ensure everyone gets an opportunity to comment on the proposed changes, IndyGo has made great efforts to engage the community in our decision making process. We’ve held numerous open houses to facilitate one on one conversations about the changes and attended nearly 50 community meetings reaching more than 4,300 Indianapolis residents.

If you haven’t seen the proposed changes to our system, we encourage you to attend the final two open houses on:

  • Thursday, March 19 from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Central Library (40 E. St. Clair St.)
  • Tuesday, Mar. 24 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the North United Methodist Church (3808 N. Meridian St.)

IndyGo staff will have the proposals displayed for review, help answer any questions and take comments. Both locations are easily accessible by multiple IndyGo routes. It’s important to note that the plans are still proposed and subject to change, as they have been tweaked throughout the public comment period based on feedback.

The final plans will be presented to IndyGo’s board of directors in April for review and final vote.
