25th Annual French MarketINDIANAPOLIS, IN – Organizers of the 25th annual French Market Festival strongly encourage attendees to take the Indianapolis public bus system, IndyGo, to the Festival to avoid parking and reduce their carbon footprint. The French Market is free and held on Saturday, September 12 at St. Joan of Arc Church, located at 4217 Central Avenue from noon – 10:00 p.m. IndyGo’s Route 19 has stops directly on Central Avenue and several routes are within walking distance of the event. Attendees can “Bike and Bus” with IndyGo and lock up bikes at racks near the church.

The French Market is one of Indy’s best neighborhood street fairs with live bands, artisan booths, a raffle, children’s games, and an array of French food. Free admission makes the event affordable for families and people of all ages.

“We are very excited about our unique partnership between the French Market Festival and IndyGo. We have always had a desire to utilize the IndyGo routes on Central and College Avenue to bring folks to the festival. Public transportation is a great way to access the French Market, but it also fits our desire to go green with our festival. Not to mention we are recycling much of our refuse this year, ” stated St. Joan of Arc Parish Pastor, Father Guy Roberts.

Featured bands this year include French Axe from noon to 2:00 p.m., The Tides from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m., Fernando Tarango and the Wickersham Brothers from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and The Bishops from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The menu includes French favorites such as tarte flambé, quiche, French onion soup, escargot, oysters, French bread and herb butter, cheese, fruit and pâté plate, rotisserie chicken, barbeque ribs, crawfish étouffée, tenderloin tips in wine sauce, French pastries, and desserts. Beverages include soft drinks, iced cappuccino, and café du monde. Beer and wine are available for purchase in the beer garden.

For the second year, the 5:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated in French by Father Michael Hoyt in the historic Roman style basilica constructed in 1929. Historic tours of the church will also be conducted.
