INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo would like to inform riders and motorists that Red Line enhancement work on the stations along College Avenue, between 42nd and 52nd streets, will begin on or after Wednesday, June 14. This work will include bus pad reinforcement and concrete pouring that will continue through mid-July.

Through traffic will be closed on College Avenue, from 38th Street to Kessler Boulevard, for nearly two months. Local access will be maintained on College Avenue, with limited access to areas immediately surrounding the stations undergoing work. Vehicular traffic will be detoured around the stations using Meridian Street. Residents along the detour route can expect increased motorist traffic. Previous plans to detour motorists onto Central Avenue using 42nd and 52nd streets changed due to permitting requirements and other construction projects going on in the area.

(See motorist detour map below.)

For riders, the Park, 42nd, 46th and 52nd street Red Line stations on 38th Street and College Avenue will be closed until mid-July. Work on 54th Street and Kessler Boulevard stations will start on or after Monday, July 17, and last 21 days. North and southbound service will be temporarily shifted to local stops on Central Avenue.

(See rider detour map below.)

As a reminder, IndyGo is making these significant improvements to the Red Line to provide additional long-term stability and protect the significant investment made in the system’s infrastructure. Work is expected to be complete by August 2023.
