INDIANAPOLIS – IndyGo is calling on local, small businesses to help us Prepare, Proceed, and Progress in how we work with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs). We invite you to come chat with us at a special event Wednesday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center – Second Floor Ballroom. We’re seeking community feedback on the method for establishing the Corporation’s proposed overall goal of 12% participation for the period 2023-2025. This is an increase over the previous 10% goal. IndyGo anticipates a total of more than $12 million would be awarded to DBE firms over the next three years. You can find more information about this goal and how we set it on the IndyGo Supplier Diversity webpage at www.IndyGo.net

The mission of IndyGo’s DBE program is to create a level playing field where disadvantaged businesses have an equal opportunity to participate on U.S. Department of Transportation assisted contracts. During the event, participants will hear about IndyGo’s proposed three-year goal as well as upcoming projects and procurements. Participants will gain insight into IndyGo’s goal-setting process, when DBE goals will be applied and how IndyGo strives to meet those goals. They also will be able to ask questions about these processes and how the goal will affect doing business with IndyGo over the next three years.  Current DBE, MBE, WBE, VBE, DOBE organizations, those interested in applying for certification, and any non-disadvantaged business interested in working with IndyGo are invited to this information-sharing session at Ivy Tech.

“IndyGo is excited to bring more small businesses to the table to talk about what’s working, existing challenges and gain valuable feedback from those interested in working with us,” said IndyGo Senior Supplier Diversity Officer Gregory Garrett. “We hope hosting this event will show the importance of our pursuit of increased inclusiveness and how we can help DBE partners, while encouraging them to join us in the important work we are doing.”

The process of goal methodology is a federally mandated process where a three-year percentage goal is set for DBE participation.  The adopted goal is intended to reflect the anticipated spending patterns of IndyGo and the amount of DBE participation that would be expected to be achievable in a race/gender neutral marketplace.  It is based upon demonstrable evidence of relative availability of DBEs in the geographical and product market area of IndyGo.  Comments concerning the proposed goal may be shared at the event or may be submitted in writing to IndyGo at supplierdiversity@indygo.net.  The deadline to submit comments is July 29, at 12 p.m. The new goal will go into effect Oct. 1.

This event will also include refreshments and networking opportunities, which will allow discussion about upcoming opportunities with IndyGo.
