New Jersey Street
A short section of Virginia Avenue, just south of New Jersey, will also be impacted in March to facilitate construction of BRT stations. Each of the following impacts will occur in front of the BRT station areas only, extending less than 200 feet south of New Jersey Street. Access to New Jersey Street will not be impacted by the following closures.
- One lane of Virginia will be closed in each direction for up to 20 minutes on or after March 15. The lane closures will be staggered so that one direction of travel is open at all times. Workers will pour concrete at each station.
- One lane of Virginia will be closed in each direction for up to 2 hours on or after March 20. One closure will occur from 9-11am. One will happen between 1-3pm. Workers will set steel each BRT station.
- All lanes of Virginia Ave will be closed for up to one week beginning on or after March 20. Workers will construct concrete bus pads in front of both BRT stations.
Flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the remaining open lane during the one-lane closures.
